Intel Driver Update Utility for graphics drivers?

I recently tried to load the Sims 2 (with all the expansions) and it loads the opening video, etc. but when it truly tries to start the game I get an error code that says something about graphics. So I figured I probably needed to update my graphics card (as I just wiped my computer recently) but when I go to the Intel Driver Update Utility to download the analyzer it never goes past the first bar...what am I doing wrong and does anyone have a better idea on how to get the Sims 2 to work?
